Safaricom Launches Shukrani Kochokocho Promo with Cash, Airtime Rewards Worth KES 0.32 Billion

Safaricom has launched a promotion named Shukrani Kochokocho (loosely translates to many thanks) that will see customers win airtime and cash prizes to the tune of 1 million shillings for those who will accumulate a substantial amount of entries. The campaign will see more than 100 people win KES 1 million each, and more than 5 million will walk home with lesser money and airtime.

Period and specific

The Promotion starts today Feb 19 and will run for the next 10 weeks (ends on April 28, 2019). It is worth noting that the goal of the exercise is to give incentives to Safaricom users to use more of the telco’s products and services. It will be conducted on a regional and county basis, meaning rewards will be based on the location of participants. This implies that the Promotion aims to evenly distribute the bonuses across the nation to maintain its authenticity, uniformity and cohesion.

The location of subscribers will be determined at the start of the campaign based on their favourite whereabouts in the past 90 days. Of course, there is an option to change your position (by dialling *456#). However, a customer needs to be physically present in the location.

Eligibility

Shukrani Kochokocho is available to all adult Safaricom subscribers (above 18 years of age). However, corporate and SME and roaming subscribers will not be eligible.

Entry

Enrollment into the promotion is automatic – you don’t have to subscribe for anything. Afterward, for every KES 20 recharge, whether via scratch cards or M-PESA, you will amass 10 entries to the draw. Every KES 20 transacted on M-PESA will attract one entry. M-PESA transactions that are eligible for entries are: person to person (send money), PayBill, Buy Goods and business to customer transactions. You can check your entries by dialing *456#. By the way, Okoa Jahazi and Sambaza top-ups do not attract any entries.
